On April 6th, 2012, Rothesay High School successfully launched a payload to the edge of space. Our goal was to reach an altitude of 100000' (30km) and return pictures and data to the ground.

From this altitude, we were able to see much of NB, as well as parts of Nova Scotia and Maine. The curvature of the earth was visible and the sky appeared black.

The flight took 2 hours and at times experienced temperatures of -60 C and 110 km/h winds. The air pressure was about 1% of what it is at sea level. Conditions were more like those on the surface of Mars than on Earth.

On board, were 2 cameras shooting still pictures every 30 seconds as well as two video cameras. Two tracking devices kept tabs on the craft's position and altitude as it flew across NB.

A big thank you to all of our supporters!
